Students will be using an online journal to complement their reading in class. This document contains important literary terms, questions, and pdf links to all of the stories or videos used. This "journal" will house all of our plot maps and key questions for each story, as well as class ideas and discussion questions. Much of the work we will do together as a class, however, some of the work students will be completing on their own.
Students will then be able to use their work and ideas collected for quizzes and for the end of the unit literary analysis essay on the short story of their choice.

Learning Targets: Students will be able to:Explore the elements of the short story;Practice oral reading skills;Work collaboratively on a variety of stories; discussionStudents will culminate their learning of the unit through a group project in which they create: a list of all characters, lit terms, conflicts, theme, irony, one visual and plot map one of the stories for the class to see. Items will be turned in for a grade and will be presented in class.Develop their writing skills through writing their own literary analysis essay.Additionally, students will have read a variety of different short stories, and been exposed to several different styles of writing.
